Inari Virmakoski have worked as a Performance Artist since 1995 when she graduated from Art School MAA. She have represented Finland in several International Performance Art Festivals and events around the world, in Asia: China Indonesia and Singapore, in Africa: Mozambique in South America: Chile, Peru, Cuba, Europe; Italy, Germany, Poland, Norway, Sweden, all the Baltic countries, Russia , Belorussia and the United States.
The contents of her work are of global concern such as human rights, peace and war, love and hate, social and environmental issues. Living and working in Africa for 8 years have deeply influenced my life and art. She enjoy working with other artists and in projects with both community and audience participation. “

The video work entitled Inari is a collaboration between Anita Hillestad and Inari Virmakoski. It consists of several videos and photographs showing short, filmed performances where Virmakoski interprets several female figures of either historical or fictional origin. Examples of ancient female figures include the Mermaid and the veiled woman.
